Timeless Care for Lasting Hardware

Every piece of Charleston Hardware is crafted to stand the test of time. With gentle care and the right techniques, your hardware will retain its beauty while developing a rich, natural patina. Proper maintenance ensures it continues to shine for generations to come.

Brass and Bronze

Our brass and bronze finishes are crafted to age gracefully over time and develop a unique patina relative to environmental conditions and use.

If your hardware has a lacquered finish, use only a soft, damp cloth for cleaning—do not use polish, as this can remove the protective coating.

Iron and Steel

Iron and steel hardware used outdoors is exposed to constantly changing weather conditions and will require periodic maintenance. To help prevent rust, we recommend regular cleaning and the application of a protective coating. In interior applications, a light coat of clear paste wax applied once or twice a year is typically sufficient. For exterior applications, more frequent maintenance is required. In exposed or coastal environments, a light oil or corrosion-inhibiting protectant may be used, with paste wax applied as an additional protective layer. Always wipe hardware dry and avoid prolonged exposure to standing moisture when possible.
